The Journalism Program at Fullerton College provides a solid foundation in all forms of print journalism, including newspaper and magazine. The department offers courses in journalism, public relations and advertising, with certificates available in each area. The latest computer typesetting and editing equipment gives students the skills needed to meet employers' demands. The faculty are professionals who are active in writing and publishing.
All Journalism students gain experience in writing, production and photographic work: Weekly Hornet Newspaper, Fullerton College Magazine, Internship and Independent Study. The Weekly Hornet and Torch have consistently won journalism awards in local and state competitions sponsored by JACC (Journalism Association of Community Colleges). The Hornet was awarded the 1989 Gold Crown by the Columbia University Scholastic Press Association, its highest award for college journalism.
